Tenant faces boot for drug offences

A TENANT is being thrown out of her Midland council house after being convicted of drug offences.

Dudley Council has been granted an outright possession order of the council-owned property following a recent court case.

Council officers attended Dudley County Court on August 2 to seek possession of 9 Lupin Road, Dudley, from council tenant Diane Doyle.

Evidence was heard and an outright possession order granted to the council.

Doyle must leave on or before August 31 and has been ordered to pay legal costs of £219.50 and rent arrears to the value of £246.51.

The council sought possession following the tenant being convicted at Wolverhampton Crown Court last year for possession of class B drugs, possession of class C drugs with intent to supply and handling stolen goods.

All of the offences were committed within the council property and the tenant imprisoned for seven months.

Speaking afterwards Coun Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing, said: "Dudley Council does not tolerate this kind of behaviour and will take necessary action against any tenant who has committed a criminal offence.

"Council properties are in high demand and must be available to deserving residents who will treat property with care."
