Armed raid on city shop

STAFF at a tool shop in Birmingham were held up at gunpoint today by an armed gang who struck as they were taking in a delivery.

The gang threatened a worker and a delivery driver outside the Yardley branch of Machine Mart at 7.20am.

The pair were marched into the store at gunpoint.

Once inside, the three masked men emptied a till and stole power tools.

The robbers escaped in a silver saloon car with blacked out windows and a silver tint on the rear window.

Det Sgt Mark Burnell appealed for anyone who may have see the car speeding away to come forward.

The two victims were not injured in the hold-up and were today being interviewed by police.
