Ed: I'm fit and raring to go

Ed Doolan toasts his recovery after having a heart pacemaker fitted.

VETERAN BBC WM presenter Ed Doolan today said he is raring to go and can't wait to get back behind the microphone after having life-saving heart surgery.

The popular Aussie, aged 66, said he will return to the airwaves on Monday to run his popular three-hour daily slot less than a fortnight after undergoing emergency surgery to have a pacemaker fitted.

"I don't want to stay away too long because other members of staff are doing really well on my show and I don't want them to realise how easy it all is," quipped the award-winning presenter.

The drama unfolded on August 8 after his heart beat dropped to a dangerously low level. He was given an ECG and surgeons told him he needed a pacemaker fitted immediately.
