Siege cops use stun gun

POLICE used a high-voltage stun gun to subdue an armed man during a siege at a house in Dudley.

The 48-year-old man, armed with a hand gun, held police at bay for almost two hours in Russells Hall Road,

A taser gun - which delivers a 50,000 volt shock - was used to knock him out and arrest him.

A police spokeswoman said the alarm was raised just after 6pm yesterday.

She said: "Trained West Midlands Police negotiators supported by armed officers negotiated with a man armed with a hand gun who had locked himself in a house in the Russells Hall area of Dudley.

"A 48-year-old man was arrested at approximately 7.49pm. A taser was used during the arrest and the man remains in police custody."
