A MAN who died in an horrific accident at Halesowen was today named as Birmingham pensioner Patrick Kelly.

Mr Kelly, aged 67, was certified dead at the scene after his Rover car was in a head-on collision with a Fiat Brava.

Earlier reports by police suggested that a man aged 21, who was among two men in the Fiat, had also died but they confirmed today he was still alive.

The man, who received severe head injuries, leg fractures and internal injuries, was taken to Selly Oak Hospital and was today said to be fighting for his life.

A 22-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident was helping police with inquiries.

The accident, which happened on Dudley Road between Furnace Hill and Mucklow Hill about 5.50 yesterday and involved four vehicles, led to peak hour traffic chaos for drivers with long queues.

Anyone with information is asked to call the road policing unit at Halesowen police station on 0845 113 5000.
