Bike crash victim is named

A TEENAGE motorcyclist killed when his machine burst into flames after ploughing into a car has been named by police.

Iqbal Singh Purewal, aged 18, died in the crash in Dartmouth Street, West Bromwich on Friday night.

The teenager, from the Sandwell area, was taken to Sandwell General Hospital following the crash just after 10pm, but doctors could not save him.

Police said the motorbike was travelling along Dartmouth Street when it collided with a Ford Granada which was turning right.

A 43-year-old man, a woman and her three children in the car were unhurt, but badly shaken.

A police spokesman asked witnesses to the accident to contact the traffic unit at West Bromwich on 0845 113 5000.
