Curtis is top of the bops

Street dancer Curtis Stanley.

HE MAY be only 11 but Curtis Stanley is already dancing his way to a world title after beating thousands of young hopefuls in an international street dance championship.

The Kingstanding schoolboy stepped and bopped his way to fifth place after taking on rivals from the United States, Spain, Germany, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Britain.

Curtis, who is about to start at Cardinal Wiseman Technical College, was the only boy to make it to the finals in the under-12s newcomer section, held over the Bank Holiday weekend at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.

Now he has his sights set on the World Hip Hop Dance Championships held in Bremen, Germany, in October.

Mum Sharon Walker said: "Curtis is a born performer and was dancing before he could hardly walk."

Curtis is now hoping for more sponsors after his under-12s football team, Kingstanding-based Building Futures, helped to support him.

Anyone who can help should contact his coach, Lotty Cunningham, on 07835 287 191.
