Robber takes cash from travel agency

A BURLY robber escaped with thousands of pounds after threatening staff at a Birmingham travel agents.

The hooded thug terrified two female workers into emptying the safe after he walked into the Sheldon branch of Co-Op Travel.

Det Sgt Mark Burnell, from the Stechford robbery team, said no weapon was seen but the women were frightened by the incident which happened at 11am on Tuesday .

The robber fled from the store in the Wells Green Shopping Centre, Coventry Road, and was last seen running into Sheaf Lane.

He was described as black, aged 25, wearing a black and grey Nike hooded top and dark trousers and carrying a sports bag.

"I would appeal for anyone who saw the man running along Coventry Road into Sheaf Lane or who knows where he went afterwards to contact police," said Det Sgt Burnell.
