Carl is lost for words
BRUMMIE historian and Mail columnist Carl Chinn admits he is struggling to get on top of his correspondence.
His newspaper articles and radio programmes prompt hundreds of letters and emails a month and, try as he might, he is always six months behind.
He admitted as much on radio - which prompted one forthright Brummie woman to get on the phone.
"I heard you say that you were six months behind," she said.
"Well, I am in my 80s and I might not have that long to go so I thought I would ring you up for an answer to my question!"
Even Carl was almost lost for words.
