Festival launches 'mile' run

RESIDENTS are gearing up for one of the biggest events in their village calendar this weekend.

The Fazeley Festival - along with the Mile Oak 'Mile' run - is set to take place on Festival Field by the Peel hospital tomorrow from 11.15am.

The inaugural run, which is planned to be an annual event, will see competitive runners vying for the position as fastest timed 'miler' in the area as well as fun runners taking in the atmosphere at a more leisurely pace, with additional prizes for best fancy dress.

The Festival Field will see fun, games and music with the Touch FM Road Show live broadcast from noon.

Other activities will include DJ workshops, face painting, an army climbing wall, public services displays and bouncy castles.

Off-field events include Longwood School playing field hosting junior football matches and canal trips with traditionally dressed crew.

Proceeds will go to local charitable causes including the hardship fund set up after the recent local floods.

All ages are welcome to take part in the run and can register in advance by calling the 01543 671228 or turn up to register between 10am and 10.30am at Fazeley Town Hall.
