Brady quit hint over Yeung deal

Karren Brady

BLUES managing director Karren Brady has hinted she could quit St Andrew's if the Carson Yeung takeover deal goes through.

Ms Brady, who has been at Birmingham City for 14 years, said: "I think a takeover would be the catalyst for me to make my decision.

"If it happened, maybe I would feel that I could close the book. I'd very much like to see it through and then see how we all get on.

"I've no real plans. I've always said that if you look after this job, the next one comes along automatically."

Just days after Blues co-owner David Sullivan set a deadline of December 20 for agreement on a deal, Ms Brady said Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung was "buying into an extremely slick operation".

"A Premier League club with no debt and that makes money. That's an unusual position.

"A lot of Premier clubs have massive debts. He is buying into a tight, well-run, efficient operation. He will make money out of it.

"I embrace change. Change is important for business. It's important to look at other people's perspectives.

"Carson can give us access to China and that would be good for the club. "It's good to have new investors. It keeps you fresh, keeps you on your toes."

Mr Yeung has already amassed a 29.9 per cent shareholding in Blues and has asked for extra time to continue due diligence and clear the path for a full takeover by the New Year.

"Foreign owners? Scary? No, it's never bothered me," said Ms Brady.

"If you don't agree with the way things are happening, you always have an option. We all have options. It's normally by the exit door."
