Ex-council man dies jogging

TRIBUTES have been paid to Alistair Morton, former communications adviser to Birmingham City Council, who has died while jogging.

Mr Morton, who was in his late 40s, collapsed with a suspected heart attack on Sunday.

Council leader Mike Whitby said: "This is very sad news. Alistair was a valued colleague and will be missed."

Janet Priestley, the council's corporate media manager, said: "Alistair was a lovely man who was well regarded by all his friends and colleagues."

The former public affairs manager at MG Rover joined the city council in August 2005, but left his post earlier this year.

Mr Morton, a Birmingham magistrate who lived in Kings Norton, was married but had no children.
