Woman's body found in river near Droitwich

THE body of a woman was found floating in a Midland river.

Police were today investigating the death of Carole Eva Thomas in the village of Shell, near Droitwich, in Worcestershire.

A motorist raised the alarm after spotting her body while he was driving next to the river at 5.50pm yesterday.

Paramedics in a rapid response vehicle and police were sent to the scene, but she was already dead.

Ms Thomas, a 41-year-old retail assistant from Toftdale Green, Lyppard Bourne, Worcester, was reported missing on November 30.

A post-mortem examination will be held to determine whether the death was accidental or suspicious.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The woman was confirmed dead at the scene by a police surgeon."
