Second Sutton Coldfield car crash victim is named

Daniel Judge

POLICE today named a second teenager who died in hospital a week after a car smashed into a tree and burst into flames.

Daniel Judge, aged 19, from Walmley, died in hospital on Friday after the accident in Sutton Coldfield on December 1.

The accident has also claimed the life of 16-year-old Joe Kelliher, a former John Wilmott School pupil, from Kingstanding.

Joe was remembered as a "loveable rogue" and friends and relatives turned the scene of the accident into a shrine.

The pair died after a Rover 25 collided with a tree in Pilkington Avenue.

Another 20-year-old passenger remains in a serious but stable condition and a fourth man, aged 18, escaped with minor injuries. Neither have been named.

Emergency services said it could have been even worse if residents had not helped one victim drag his three friends from the burning wreckage.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "Police are continuing their inquiries into the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to contact the road policing unit at Castle Vale on 0845 113 5000."
