Probe into death of guard at Birmingham Securicor depot

INVESTIGATIONS were continuing today into the death of a security worker killed when he was run over by a van at a Handsworth firm.

Dave Thompson, aged 59, died after he was in collision with a box van at the Group 4 Securicor depot on the Park Lane industrial estate.

It happened at 5.35pm on Monday evening.

He was taken to Sandwell General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A spokesman for Mr Thompson's employers, Group 4 Securicor Cash Services (UK), said: "We can confirm that an employee has died following a tragic accident at one of our sites yesterday.

"We are co-operating fully with the police and health and safety officials as they conduct their investigation.

"Our deepest sympathies are with the deceased's family and friends and we will endeavour to do all we can to help them during this difficult time."

Police confirmed that they are still investigating the case.
