Driver killed after collision with tree

A MAN has died after a fatal car crash in Birmingham.

The incident occurred on Bromford Lane, Erdington, opposite the Lad In The Lane at around 9.40pm on Saturday.

Several passers-by and residents phoned West Midlands Ambulance Service and an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were immediately dispatched to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said "On arrival at the scene, crews found a car that had been in a significant collision with a tree.

"The male driver had sustained serious injuries and despite the best efforts of ambulance crews nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
