Stolen items seen in shop

A BURGLARY victim helped capture a crook after spotting some of his stolen property in a pawn shop window.

The unidentified victim, from Dudley, tipped off police who spotted Sarah Mallen, from Hill Street, Brierley Hill, handing the jewellery over on CCTV.

The 25-year-old, described as a woman of previous good character, admitted two charges of handling stolen property at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

She was given a 12-month Community Rehabilitation Order and ordered to carry out 80 hours community punishment.

Sentencing her on Friday Recorder Timothy Raggatt QC told Mallen: "I hope you have learned your lesson."
