Rubbish causes flooding

A MAJOR clean-up operation was under way at a famous Black Country pub today after fly-tippers caused a brook to flood.

Management at the Crooked House, off Himley Road, near Dudley, claimed that customers could not get to the pub because rubbish had left a path underwater.

But senior Dudley councillor Karen Shakespeare pledged today that the problems would soon be a thing of the past.

She said that she was liaising with colleagues at South Staffordshire District Council to make sure the rubbish was cleared away today.

Coun Shakespeare added: "The problems have been caused by irresponsible people dumping their rubbish.

"The litter has blocked a brook and in turn has caused the lane to flood, making it impassable and causing problems getting to the pub."
