CCTV clues in hunt for knifeman

POLICE today released CCTV images of a West Midlands man they are trying to trace in connection with a stabbing in a Welsh seaside town.

A Barmouth man was stabbed in the chest during a row with a group of tourists which spilled out of a pub and into the street.

Detectives in the North Wales town, popular with holidaymakers from the West Midlands, believe the men could have come from the Walsall area.

The incident happened in the town's High Street last August. The victim was hospitalised for four days for treatment to a chest wound.

North Wales Police have worked with counterparts in the West Midlands but have so far drawn a blank in catching the offender.

Today, police released images of a man they want to trace and appealed to Birmingham Mail readers to help identify him.

Det Con Tim Dobson said: "We want to speak to this man with a view to eliminating him from our inquiries.

"Information we had suggests the men may have come from the Walsall area. They have driven away from the scene after the incident.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man or if he recognises himself to contact us." n Anyone with information can call Det Con Dobson on 01286 670721.
