Man dies after being hit by bus

AN elderly man died when he was hit by a bus in Birmingham.

The unnamed man, who was in his 70s, died after the incident at 10.45am yesterday at the junction of Bells Lane and Bells Farm Close in Druids Heath.

A West Midlands Ambulance Spokesman said: “On arrival, we found an elderly man who was very badly injured. He was given oxygen treatment and we immobilised him using a neck collar and spinal board and he was taken to Selly Oak Hospital.

“We took him on blue lights with an extra crew member staff carrying out resuscitation attempts en-route to hospital where a medical team was on stand-by.

“Despite the best efforts of ambulance and hospital staff, the man was unfortunately confirmed dead shortly after arrival at hospital.”
