Teenager in court over Dudley murder

A TEENAGER was appearing in court today charged with the murder of a Midland man.

Father-of-one Lance Hamilton, aged 33, died at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, on Sunday after receiving a single stab wound to the chest.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance after being found in Wolverton Road, Dudley.

Police sealed off the area, removed a black car from the scene and also taped off a house in nearby Bunns Lane.

An 18-year-old youth who was arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder was today appearing before magistrates at Dudley.

Meanwhile, a friend of the Hamilton family revealed Lane was separated from his wife, Karlene, whom he married in March 1999, and that he had a young son, Mari.

"He was a popular man. A lot of people knew him," he said.

A neighbour of Karlene's said: "I am shocked about what has happened. It all seems a bit surreal. I just feel for the little boy."

Mr Hamilton's mother, Gloria Parke, today paid tribute to him, saying: "Lance was a caring loving son and father. This tragic death has deeply affected us all."

She added: " Lance will be sadly missed for years to come and will never be forgotten."
