Families set a shining example

GENEROUS Midlanders have brought in a staggering £13,200 for cancer patients through the Tree Of Thought appeal.

Families lit up trees in honour of loved ones in Shirley and Solihull.

All cash raised in the campaign by Macmillan Cancer Support will now boost the charity's services to cancer patients from helping them gain grants to giving them extra support through Macmillan nurses.

Cat Yates, regional spokeswoman for Macmillan, said: "On behalf of the charity, I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported our Tree of Thought campaign.

"I can now tell you that a fantastic £13,200 was raised in total across Birmingham Solihull and Sandwell.

"We are thrilled to have raised this amount of money this year."
