Service all set to ring the changes

A LIFELINE service for the elderly and infirm is launching a new telephone system in a bid to make it easier for customers to get in touch.

But Redditch's Dial-A-Ride has reasssured users that it is keeping the same telephone number, 01527 64910.

Elderly and immobile residents can ring the call centre to get a free ride in the town but a survey showed customers found it difficult to use the telephone system.

Dial-A-Ride and shopmobility manager, Peter Rose, said: "We carried out a customer survey last autumn.

"All those who responded rated the Dial-A-Ride service as very good or excellent overall.

"But 13 per cent of respondents said the booking system was the key area which needed to improve.

"We have listened to customer concerns about getting through to Dial-A-Ride. The new telephone system should address key issue they have raised.

"We are sending out information to Dial-A-Ride customers ahead of the changeover to make sure they are fully aware of how the new phone system works."

The new system goes live on Wednesday.
