Man arrested in city centre police swoop
THIS is the dramatic moment when armed police swooped on a man in the centre of Birmingham.
The photograph shows officers and vehicles surrounding the man in Edgbaston Street, outside Debenhams.
He is clearly seen sitting on the ground in the middle of the normally busy road.
West Midlands Police were today tight-lipped about the operation, saying they were unable to disclose very much information about the incident, which was captured by a Birmingham Mail photographer.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police was only able to confirm the arrest of a man in Birmingham city centre.
"A male was arrested this afternoon on Edgbaston Street as part of an ongoing police operation."
