Street is sealed in gun fear

POLICE sealed off a Birmingham street following a report that a firearm had been seen.

Fowlmere Road, at Great Barr, was blocked at either end, with officers preventing people from moving in or out of the road.

The operation began shortly after noon yesterday.

A police spokesman said: "We received a report of a firearm being sighted at about 12.10pm. "The road was blocked and firearms officers have been in attendance. No shots have been fired or heard."

The road was re-opened around 6.30pm. Police said officers were working at a house in the street but would not reveal any more information.
