Fire-rescue moggy has 8 lives left

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a pet cat from a severe blaze at a Birmingham house.

The family escaped the fire at the mid-terrace home, in Lime Avenue, Selly Oak yesterday morning but their moggy was left inside.

Three fire engines, led by a team from Bournbrook Station tackled the blaze in the front bedroom of the two-storey house.

Fire service spokesman Archie Weldon said:

"The persons inside the house escaped and raised the alarm. "Firefighters did rescue the family pet cat, which had burns to its face. It is now being treated by a vet."
