OAP fights for life after accident

AN 80-year-old woman is fighting for life in hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Birmingham.

The pensioner was critically injured while walking alone near a social club in the Ladywood area of the city on Saturday night.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said the victim, who has not yet been named remained in a critical condition at City Hospital.

Officers have yet to establish details of the vehicle involved in the incident, which happened in Ladywood Middleway.

Today, they made an urgent appeal witnesses.n Anyone with information should contact the road policing unit at Rose Road police station on 0845 113 5000.
