Mum in court for throwing apple core

Kate Badger

A MIDLAND mum-of-three who allegedly threw an apple core from her car is to go to Crown Court for trial.

Kate Badger, of Cornwall Road, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, refused to pay a £60 on-the-spot fine after the alleged incident in March last year.

She denies throwing the core from the window of her VW Golf in Bilston Street in Wolverhampton. The 25-year-old appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court yesterday afternoon where she elected to stand trial at Crown Court.

The case was adjourned until next month at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

If Badger is found guilty she could be sent to prison.

She denies a charge of knowingly causing the deposit of controlled waste, namely an apple core, on land which did not have a waste management licence.

The prosecution is being brought by Wolverhampton City Council.
