Birmingham beauty to be face of Avon

Megan Pugh

A TEENAGER from Birmingham has become the new face of make-up giant Avon - thanks to England footballer Wayne Rooney's fiancée Coleen McLoughlin.

Teenager Megan Pugh was enjoying a shopping trip to Birmingham's Bullring when she was spotted by the production team filming TV show Coleen's Real Women.

The show features Coleen trying to convince major fashion brands to ditch professional models and instead use "real women" for their ad campaigns.

Coleen insists she is still the average girl next door, despite becoming an overnight star at the tender age of 16 - simply because she was Rooney's girlfriend.

Five years on, she's now seen as a style icon and, thanks to being a WAG, her autobiography and perfume are best-sellers, she is the face of Asda's clothing line and is a millionaire in her own right.

Now 18-year-old Megan hopes to follow in Coleen's footsteps after beating competition from professional models to be chosen as cover girl for Avon's latest make-up brochure, which is currently being sent to customers across the country. Former stars to have appeared in the brochure include Denise Van Outen, Tess Daly and Louise Redknapp.

Megan, who lives with her parents Paul and Sue, and sisters Emma, 20, and Sadie, 16, in Truemans Heath Lane, Wythall, explained: "I was a bit shocked because it was so out of the blue."

Less than a week later, Megan was one of more than 70 "real women" to attend an audition at Birmingham's Custard Factory.

But before she knew it, former Woodrush High School pupil Megan, a customer services advisor at West Bromwich Building Society, in Colmore Row, Birmingham, was told she had won the contract.
