Man falls 40ft from tree

A MAN was badly injured after falling 40ft from a tree in the Black Country. Paramedics were called to Regent Street, Bilston, shortly before 10.40am yesterday.

A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and the County Air Ambulance helicopter from Cosford attended.

They found the 47-year-old accident victim lying on the ground with head, spinal and leg injuries and a fractured hip.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews were told he had fallen 40ft from a tree. He suffered head, spinal and leg injuries as well as a fractured hip.

"He was immobilised using a spinal board and collar and his condition stabilised before being taken by land ambulance to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton for further assessment and treatment."
