A helping hand keeps us safe

Alan Batson

PARENTS and children from Bentley Heath School all agreed that their lollipop lady was one of the best things that has happened to the school.

Alan Batson, whose 10-year-old daughter Eleanor goes to Bentley Heath School, said: "Kath is great.

"She has been crossing my kids for years now and she is really first class.

"We can now let Eleanor walk some of the way to school on her own because we know Kath will be there to look after her."

Eight-year-old Chloe Mahar, also from Bentley Heath School, said: "I think Kath is really good.

"I hold her hand when I cross the road and she makes me feel safe."

Suzanne Bird, whose two sons use Kath's crossing, said: "It's such a busy main road here that a lollipop lady is just crucial.

"I can't imagine how dangerous it would be without her."

Her seven-year-old son, Christopher added: "She is brilliant and always remembers everybody's name."

Parent Jemma Roberts agreed and said: "Kath is an amazing woman and is much loved by everyone at the school.

"She really deserved her MBE."
