TV book is hot stuff!

Sir David Attenborough

ACCLAIMED broadcaster and nature expert Sir David Attenborough crept into Birmingham to sign copies of his new book Life In Cold Blood.

Fans queued around the block to see the 81-year-old at Waterstones book store in New Street and to get copies of his new tome about cold blooded animals.

"Reptiles and amphibians are sometimes thought of as slow, dim witted and primitive. In fact they can be lethally fast, spectacularly beautiful, surprisingly affectionate and extremely sophisticated," said Sir David.

"We're out doing book signings for the rest of this week and the book will run alongside the series."

He reiterated earlier messages on the importance of reducing climate change and global warming and urged the people of Birmingham to play their part.

"Obviously it's up to everyone in the city to do their part on climate change. It's something we've all got to worry about," he said.

Sir David, the younger brother of film star Richard Attenborough, is famous for pioneering the nature documentary and particularly for his nine Life series.

In his latest five-part documentary which started on February 4, he studies the evolution and habits of amphibians and reptiles.

It has taken two years to film and involved travelling to the Galapagos islands, Minorcan islands and Madagascar.
