Knife robbers in bank raid

ROBBERS threatened a man with a knife before making off with cash in an armoured car raid in Birmingham.

It happened outside the Halifax bank on Stratford Road in Sparkhill when two men threatened a member of staff as he got out of the van and took a box containing a substantial amount of cash.

Police were called after bank staff set off an alarm immediately after the incident at about 11.20am yesterday.

The two men escaped in a waiting car, a grey BMW, which was abandoned a short time later in Formans Road.
