Thugs try to take moped in attack on teen

A TEENAGER was left terrified after he was attacked and grabbed around the throat by two thugs who attempted to rob him of his moped in Worcestershire.

The victim, a 17-year-old-boy, was about to ride off on his moped in Franche Road, Wolverley, near Kidderminster, when the attack took place, said West Mercia Police.

Det Cons Iain Standing, of Kidderminster CID, who is leading an investigation into the attempted robbery, said: "They grabbed the victim around the throat and demanded the keys to his moped.

"The victim refused and the offenders fled empty handed.

"The victim chased them along Franche Road to Sebright Road, Wolverley, where they disappeared."

Police are now appealing for information about the incident, which happened at around 5.15pm last Saturday.

DC Standing added: "This is a residential area and we hope that someone may have information on the suspects.

"We are especially interested in talking to a woman walking her dog in the area at the time who may have seen the suspects."

He said both of the attackers were white and about 6ft tall.

One was aged around 18 and wearing a white tracksuit top with blue stripes on the sleeves, and the other was about 19 and wearing a dark tracksuit.

Witnesses can call Kidderminster CID on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
