A NEW Midland bishop was enthroned in a cathedral ceremony.

The new Bishop of Worcester, the Rt Rev John Inge, was enthroned by the Archdeacon of Canterbury.

He paid homage to the Queen in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday ahead of the weekend's service at Worcester Cathedral, which was attended by more than 1,500 people.

Bishop John takes over from the Rt Rev Dr Peter Selby, who retired in September after ten years in the post.

He was previously the Bishop of Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire. The new bishop, who is married with two young daughters, has also worked in the Diocese of Newcastle.
