Got to hand it to Paddy!

FORMER paratrooper and multi-world-record breaker Paddy Doyle has been at it again - this time on national television.

The 43-year-old martial arts expert from Solihull appeared on the Paul O'Grady Show, where he beat the Guinness World Record for reverse hand press-ups - like a normal press-up but resting on the back of the hands instead of the palms.

"It was a tough challenge because the people from Guinness only rang me up about two weeks before I was due to do the challenge so I had to fit two months' training into that time," said Paddy.

"I've picked up a few injuries in my back and my shoulders and arms but apart from that I seem to have got through it okay."

Paddy, from Balsall Common, did the push-ups while wearing a 40lb back pack which meant he was lifting a combined weight of 16 stone.

He managed 22, breaking the current world record of 20 in a minute.

Paddy added: "It was hard, but I enjoyed doing the show. Paul was a really nice guy. He was very professional and a real pleasure to work with."

This is the first record Paddy has broken since his last attempt in January when he landed 121,471 punches on a punch bag in 12 hours, shattering Howard Smith's records by nearly 30,000 punches.

Paddy is one of five sporting champions singled out for mention in the 2007 Guinness Book of Records Hall of Fame.

He has been mentioned five time in the 2008 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as the holder of the World Fitness Endurance Champion title and World's Fittest Athlete.
