Man stabbed to death in Frankley pub fight

A MAN was stabbed to death in a violent attack at a Birmingham pub.

The 38-year-old was drinking in the Bugle Horn pub, in Frankley, when he was fatally wounded at 4.35pm yesterday.

His attacker pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

Staff at the pub, in Wareham Road, are thought to have given first aid before paramedics arrived.

The victim, from Frankley, was taken to Selly Oak Hospital where staff had been placed on alert for their arrival. But doctors lost their battle to save his life and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives are treating his death as murder and have launched a manhunt for his attacker who fled the scene immediately after the incident.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out later today to determine the cause of death.

Det Insp Richard Mayhew, from Bournville Lane CID, said it was believed there had been some sort of row in the pub.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The pub was sealed off by police yesterday as officers interviewed witnesses and carried out a forensic search.

House-to-house inquiries were being carried out and officers were also trawling through CCTV footage from nearby shops.

A police spokesman said: "Officers have launched a murder inquiry after a man was stabbed at the Bugle Horn public house in Wareham Road, Frankley, just before 4.35pm yesterday afternoon.

"A 38-year-old local man was taken to hospital but died a short time later." n Witnesses can call 0845 113 5000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
