Luxury cars stolen from Stourbridge dealer dumped by joyriders

MOST of the luxury cars stolen from a Stourbridge dealership over the weekend have been recovered, police said today.

Ten cars worth about £250,000 - including an £80,000 Lamborghini Gallardo and a £45,000 Porsche 911 - were taken by thieves in a raid on Extreme UK Ltd on the Old Forge Industrial Estate, in Dudley Road, Lye, during Saturday evening.

Fifteen other cars of a similar value, mainly Mitsubishi Evolutions and one Lotus, were left untouched, as were computers.

Simon Grove, the company's after-sales director, said today all but three of the stolen cars - all Mitsubishi Evolution models - had been recovered, having been found abandoned.

One of the cars still outstanding - an Evolution 8 model - was reported as being driven through red lights at Dudley yesterday at 100 mph.

"From the way the cars have been dumped in various places it seems that rather than for financial gain, the thieves stole them for joy riding purposes," he said.

"No attempt was made to hide the cars."
