Station call to budding radio stars

A PIONEERING Birmingham community radio station is appealing for budding presenters for its podcast shows as it tours the West Midlands.

Creative Community Networks was set up in January by former record producer and Longbridge resident, John Hemming, as a means of spreading local news and getting community members involved in presenting their own shows on local issues.

Since then Mr Hemming, 41, and his staff have taken their recording equipment out to schools and community centres across the West Midlands producing podcasts which are then placed on the free website. In less than four months the website is clocking up 12,000 hits a month.

Mr Hemming said: "It is a sort of community portal really, we want to cover the issues that perhaps pass under the radar of traditional news."

Anybody interested in presenting can contact John Hemming at john@community podcast radio.com. For more information or to listen, visit www.communitypodcast radio.com
