Jail heroin supplier locked up

PRISON and police chiefs today welcomed a jail sentence for a man who supplied drugs to prisoners.

Bosses at HMP Featherstone and the Chase Division of Staffordshire Police say the 40-month sentence on William McCall sent out a clear message that they are determined to stop such offences.

McCall, 30, from Glasgow, was jailed for three years by Stafford Crown Court.

He admitted supplying heroin into the prison near Wolverhampton.

A statement by Featherstone's governor, Simon Cartwright, said: "The sentencing in court is the result of partnership working between ourselves and Staffordshire Police to stop drugs being taken into our prison."

Det Sgt Garry Helsby said: "Once officers received information stating McCall was involved with supplying drugs into HMP Featherstone we travelled to Scotland to arrest him."
