Christian speaker Tony Campolo to speak in Solihull about gang violence

AN internationally-known Christian speaker will be in Solihull tonight to talk about guns, gangs and hoodies.

Tony Campolo's visit to the Renewal Christian Centre, in Lode Lane, has been organised with help from the Youth for Christ organisation.

Youth For Christ is a national charity that works with unchurched and marginalised young people and young offenders.

A church spokesman said: "Anti-social behaviour, violence and gang-related crime are all too prevalent and very real problems in urban areas. Who though has the answers?

"Sometimes Christians speak very loudly about having the solutions to society’s needs but are far quieter when it comes to actively helping their community."

Dr Campolo's theme is ‘How our faith can offer solutions in our communities’

Youth for Christ’s National Director, Roy Crowne, said: “Tony is a fantastic advocate for our work in prisons, schools and on the streets. He has some amazing insights and this promises to be an excellent event”.

Worship leader and singer-songwriter, Matt Giles will provide music and the event will include reports on how Youth For Christ work around the country.

The event, which starts at 7pm, is open to all Christians in the Solihull area and tickets can be obtained for £2.50 online at www.yfc.co.uk/campolo or call Darren Richards in the Youth for Christ office on 0121 502 9640.

All proceeds will go to Youth For Christ.
