Fine weather expected

BRUMMIES who basked in Bank Holiday sunshine can expect more fine weather this week as temperatures in the city put Europe's holiday hotspots in the shade.

Forecasters say Birmingham could experience a Mediterranean-style 24ºC and long sunny spells during the next three days.

Although clouds are expected to bring showers on Friday, weather fronts will disappear to leave a sunny weekend.

Meanwhile, temperatures in Majorca and the Spanish Costas are predicted to languish around the 20ºC mark and holidaymakers are warned to expect showers.

Met office expert Dean Snowden said: "Warmer air is coming from the continent while an area of high pressure is sitting firm over Scandinavia and effectively blocking cold weather systems.

"There will be a breeze and a small chance of an isolated shower in Birmingham until Friday when it will become more cloudy with some outbreaks of rain likely.

"The good weather will return for the weekend and anybody going out should take sunscreen with them."
