PHEW! A firm is helping Midlanders beat the heat with ice creams.

Customers flocked to Henley Ice Cream Parlour, in Henley-in-Arden, near Solihull, which makes its own range of delicious ice creams, as temperatures soared.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old female African elephant named Five was given a helping hand to cool down when she was given a cold shower by West Midlands Safari Park's head of elephants Andy Plumb yesterday.

Two more days of fine weather are expected across Birmingham before unsettled conditions return.

After a cloudy start today, bright sunshine will send the mercury rising to about 21C, although a breeze from the east will mean the day feels less humid than recently.

Wednesday is also expected to be warm and bright, with a chance of showers in the evening. The week-long fine spell will be brought to an end on Thursday when heavy showers are forecast to arrive in the afternoon.
