Birmingham finance industry holds charity run in Sutton Park

The Birmingham financial institutions run in Sutton Park.

MORE than 200 staff from insurance and banking companies across the region took to Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, for the first Birmingham Insurance Institute charity run.

Rearranged from April 6, when the event had to be cancelled because of snow, this time it was the heat that runners had to contend with.

Families flocked to cheer on their loved ones raising cash for Acorns Children’s Hospice which provides support for children with life-limiting illness.

Organiser Sukhi Saini, who opted for the 5km run rather than the 10km, hopes the event will have raised in the region of £10,000.

The 48-year-old from Hall Green said: "We had an extremely good turnout and two very highly spirited runs.

"There were quite a lot of spectators who said they really enjoyed it.

"It was a beautiful day and was really nice to see people from all different communities."
