Crash sparks chaos on M6

MOTORISTS were hit by long rush hour tailbacks today following an accident on the M6 motorway in Birmingham.

A car and a van collided on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between Spaghetti Junction and Castle Bromwich, near the Fort Shopping Centre, shortly before 5am.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.

A spokesman for the motorway police said the accident resulted in lengthy delays on the M6 and caused tailbacks as far as Great Barr at the start of the rush hour.
