Chip pan fire wrecks Highgate flat

A WOMAN had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a chip pan caught on fire at her Birmingham home.

Firefighters were called to the scene of the fire in the kitchen of the fourth floor flat in Hope Street, Highgate, at around 7.30pm yesterday.

Crew Commander Gary Smith, of Highgate Fire Station, said: "A woman living in the flat called us after the chip pan caught fire.

He said she was taken to hospital for treatment.
