Mobility scooters stolen

POLICE were investigating today after callous thieves stole and trashed two mobility scooters and tried to steal another on the same night.

West Mercia Police said the thefts could be linked as they all happened within a short distance of each other in Stourport-on-Severn between Sunday night and Monday morning.

One scooters was taken from outside a house in William Coley Place, while another was stolen from William Bullock Close.

There was also an attempt to steal a third scooter from William Bullock Close.

PC Kate Sanders said all three scooters were left badly damaged.

"We have had a report from a resident that four youths had been seen messing about on a mobility scooter at abound 2.30am on Monday," she added.

"Young people may think it is just a joke to take a mobility scooter without realising the consequences, in terms of the distress caused to the owners, for whom it may be their only means of getting around.

"They also may not realise the value of mobility scooters, which can be several thousand pounds."

Anyone with information can call PC Sanders on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
