Little Regan Smith's had a ball - now your tot could be our Baby Of Yhe Year
GORGEOUS Regan Smith is getting used to the cameras after being voted Baby Of The Year in the Birmingham Mail's competition a year ago.
Since his win, the beautiful tot has modelled for the Mail, to the delight of his mum Laura Maguire, of Gressel Lane, Tile Cross, Birmingham.
As this year's contest prepares to get under way, 19-year-old Laura urged parents to enter saying how wonderful it had felt to have her little bundle of joy crowned in glory.
"Regan is 16 months old now and still just as gorgeous," said Laura, a former Archbishop Grimshaw School pupil.
"It was a wonderful feeling when Regan was named Baby Of The Year. Every time he has appeared in the paper, I have kept the cuttings to show Regan when he grows up.
"It will be nice for him to look back on them.
"He hasn't quite become famous - but when I go to the shops near my house, they are always saying:
"Look, it's the baby that won the competition."
Laura added: "I won't be entering Regan this year, but my 10-month-old niece Grace Marshall will give it a go. It may run in the family."
This year's competition will see baby photographs taken at Pallasades Shopping Centre, in Birmingham city centre, from this Friday until Sunday, June 22.
Parents can bring along children under three and enter them for free between 10am and 4.30pm (11am to 4pm on Sundays).
A photo of every baby will be printed in the Mail during the week starting July 7, with readers invited to cast votes for the cutest face or sweetest smile.
Winners will be announced for categories of up to nine months, 10 to 18 months, and 19 to 36 months, before an overall winner is selected.
Regan, then aged six months, was crowned the overall winner last year, with the 10-18 months prize awarded to Inaaya Khalifa-Morgan, of Spring Grove Gardens, Winson Green, and the 19-36 months prize to JayJay Boyce, of Coriander Close, Rubery.
