Jamelia turned down six figure magazine deal for wedding

Jamelia

BIRMINGHAM songstress Jamelia has turned down a six-figure offer from Hello! magazine for her wedding this weekend.

The 27-year-old, who was born in Handsworth, will tie the knot with her long-term partner Darren Byfield.

But unlike other WAGs, the chart star has shunned the offer of a lucrative photo shoot in favour of a low-profile affair.

Her publicist, Simon Jone,s said: “Jamelia’s wedding will be a private ceremony at the weekend and is not being covered by a magazine.

“Jamelia and Darren chose not to accept a magazine deal, preferring to marry with just close friends and family.”

The decision follows the multi-million-pound, lavish nuptials of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to Coleen McLoughlin. Their Italian wedding has been part-funded by an OK! magazine deal said to be worth £2.5 million.

Jamelia, who went to Brookfield Primary School and Kingshurst Technology College, has a daughter Tiani, aged two, with Darren and a seven-year-old daughter Teja, from a previous relationship.

Her agent Jonathan Shalit said: “She wasn’t interested in selling the rights to such an intimate and private event to a magazine.

“The marriage is at a secret location, with Jamelia curtailing her honeymoon to perform at the London concert to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.”
