Police hunt man over Handsworth murder

POLICE are hunting a man in connection with the murder of Handsworth man Shankar Mukherji.

Detectives are keen to trace Avtar Singh Rajasansi, 48, (pictured) as part of the enquiry into the death of the 54-year-old who suffered serious head injuries at his home in Thornhill Road in the early hours of August 11.

Avtar Rajasansi is described as an Asian man, 5ft 7in tall, of medium build, with black collar length hair and a full beard. He is untidy in appearance and he was last seen wearing a grey hooded top, khaki coloured jeans and black shoes.

He is believed to frequent the Birmingham and Coventry areas and is also known to go by the name of Avtar Singh Rajss.

A 32-year-old from Hockley and a 50-year-old from Handsworth have been charged with murder in relation to this matter and are currently awaiting trial.
